CLUB

Thirteen wrestlers entered the Novice Tournament at Mt. Calvery and we returned with two first places and six second places.  Six of our young wrestlers (6 & under) entered the Warwick Tiny -Tot and received their first action in a tournament atmosphere coming away with one first and two seconds.  Finally we had five wrestlers enter the Warwick Open where over 600 hundred of the top wrestlers on the East Coast attended.  It was a great learning experience for all who participated.  We had one outstanding performance.  One of our wrestlers won three tough matches before losing in the finals and therefore receiving a second place.

Fifteen wrestlers traveled to Mt. Joy to compete in the Donegal Tournament.  This tournament had an 8-man bracket format.  We came away with three first places, one second place, four third places and two fourth places.   This was a good experience for the boys who saw a little tougher competition.  They faired very well and held their own.  We believe we are finally at the point were we can compete with established programs.  One deficiency we seemed to have as a team was offensive takedowns but in this tournament the wrestlers showed great improvement, which we are sure will continue.  Next Saturday the kids will have a break from competition but will come back strong on January 14 at the Warwick and Mt. Calvery Tournaments.

The team traveled to Hershey to compete in the LCMC novice tournament with 19 wrestlers.  We came away with nine first places, six second places and four third places.   As a team we saw a lot of improvement on the wrestlers technique.  The boys are really beginning to notice the importance of working the moves as they experience success once they try the moves they learned.  Hopefully this will continue in our next tournament on January 31 at Donegal High School.  We also have a scrimmage with Hempfield and Manheim Township on January 27.

Manheim Township Results - December 27

The team traveled to Manheim Township over Christmas break with 24 wrestlers wrestling in the tournament and 7 first timers wrestling in the scrimmage.  In the classification tournament we came away with 9 first places, 8 second places, and 3 third places.  We also had two wrestlers compete in the open division and both coming away with 3rd places.  All in all it was a successful day and with the improvement we hope to move some wrestlers up to the next level.  The wrestlers in the scrimmage had a very good introduction in what to expect in the coming months.  Our next tournament will be at Hershey on January 17.
